Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in technology education or a related field
Eligible for or in possession of the appropriate teaching license from the Virginia Department of Education with endorsement in technology education.
Experience or training in teaching within secondary level engineering, robotics, or other STEM related courses/programs preferred.
Experience or training in teaching students with a differentiated or specialty program/learning environment preferred.
Tuberculin skin test certifying that the individual is free of contagious tuberculosis.
Must meet all pre-employment screenings.
Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the subject(s) to be taught.
Demonstrates knowledge of the content, skills, and processes.
Demonstrates considerable knowledge of the principles and methodologies of effective teaching.
Demonstrates knowledge of current assessment strategies.
Demonstrates the ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports.
Effectively interacts with pupils, colleagues, administrators, and classified employees.
Knowledgeable in the use of personal computers and content related technology.
Nature of Position
Teaches skills, knowledge, standards, and competencies for courses related to technology/STEM education (engineering, robotics, CAD) to students utilizing the curriculum approved by the local school division, VDOE, and/or national technology education associations/industries.
Plans and implements instruction within a technology education program that entails lecture, demonstrations, project based learning, and hands-on-learning experiences within a theory classroom and laboratory setting. Ensures that instruction has a strong alignment with real world learning leading to a student’s participation in industry credentialing.
Plans and delivers instruction and activities that assists all students with being college and career ready.
Instructs students in the safe and the proper use of related tools, equipment, and materials. Ensures safe storage of related items and materials.
Provides instruction to students within a diverse learning environment with a range of varied learning abilities that includes high ability learners and/or gifted.
Facilitates the learning process as the students carry out self-initiated/guided projects.
Participates in the sponsorship of applicable career and technical student organization activities and student competitions (local, state, or national)
Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.
