General Responsibilities

 

This position personally performs and oversees, directs and supervises employees responsible for the operation, upkeep, cleanliness, maintenance and security of an assigned school facility; to include supervising all custodial staff and grounds.  Requires working in conjunction with the Area Supervisor to ensure the cleanliness of the building.   

 

Education and Experience

 

Requires a high school diploma, some college level course work and at least two (2) years of supervisory/management experience supplemented by considerable progressively responsible experience in custodial and facilities maintenance.  Requires at least two (2) years of customer service experience.  Requires a valid driver’s license.

 

Essential Job Functions

• Responsible for the general cleaning, upkeep, operation, and security of a school facility.
• Schedules and assigns work to custodial staff and inspects completed work for conformance to established standards.
• Duties include supervising all custodial staff and activities within a school.
• Requires hands-on performance of custodial work.
• Inspects buildings and grounds for cleaning requirements.
• Prepares work schedules, plans work assignments, and trains custodial staff as required.
• Assists with routine cleaning tasks such as dusting or polishing chairs, desks, tables, shelves, and other furniture; washes windows, woodwork and walls; gathers and disposes of trash; cleans restrooms; operates carpet shampooers and high-powered buffers on floors; vacuums, sweeps, dust mops, strips and waxes floors.
• Monitors, orders, delivers and restocks supplies.
• Works under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
