Possession of a high school diploma (or G.E.D.), six years of experience in the printing trade, and three years of supervisory experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the above knowledge, skills, and ability. License/Certification Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license. Essential Job Functions Oversees, plans, and directs the activities of a modern printing plant; prepares or directs the preparation of cost estimates; establishes and coordinates methods and procedures for economical and efficient production of printed materials. Confers with school and departmental representatives on materials to be printed and the priorities and time limits involved and prepares or directs the preparation of schedules accordingly. Supervises directly or through subordinate employees, staff engaged in pre-press preparation, pressroom, digital printing, and binding operations; plans and directs both formal and on-the-job training programs. Determines or assists in determining the type, amount, and location of equipment needed; requisitions supplies, repair parts, and replacement or purchase of equipment; directs the cleaning, maintenance, and repair of equipment. Reviews work orders to determine materials, processes, and procedures needed to produce a wide range of finished products and establish and ensure that production deadlines are met. Plans, develops and writes specifications for a wide range of printing and binding jobs for in-house production. Advises clients on matters of digital file types, graphic design, layout and assembly, paper-stock, typefaces, binding, and ink, as they relate to the offset digital printing processes. Maintains inventory records, determines supply and inventory levels for materials, orders supplies and materials as needed. Directs and trains staff in the preparation and maintenance of the print shop database for necessary records and reports. Interacts closely with and advises Information Technology Department concerning the setup and maintenance of all computer systems in the print shop; including the server which stores all print shop related data, Printing Services website, web ordering interface, and related management software. Directly responsible for all matters of Printing Services fiscal budget; advises the Chief Operations Officer on any required increase/decrease of funding levels, invoices customers for all chargeable items, maintains financial spreadsheet in MS Excel and reconciles it against the Munis Journal monthly, fills out and submits requisitions in Munis financial software, performs purchase order maintenance in Munis, places orders for materials and supplies with assigned NPS Purchase Card, responsible for signing off NPS Purchase Card orders in the SunTrust Enterprise Spend Platform (ESP), maintains filing system for all purchases through both Munis purchase orders, and ESP. Tracks and reports all staff time and payroll, approves/disapproves staff leave, maintains records, and provides reports to appropriate departments and superiors. Performs staff evaluations and directs individual professional development. Coaches, counsels, and determines staff disciplinary action as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. " />
