General Responsibilities
This position is responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance work for school buses and other school system motorized equipment at the journey level. The work involves inspections, diagnosis, repair, and /or maintenance of major components of vehicles. Work is performed according to standard practices of the trade.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), with school bus endorsement, will train. ASE Certifications preferred.
Essential Job Functions
- Inspects assigned vehicles, diagnoses problems, and obtains and /or orders parts needed.
- Repairs and maintains engines, power trains, brakes, electrical systems, transmissions, etc., of buses and other vehicles.
- Installs, checks, and repairs wheelchair lifts, seat belts, and other restraints.
- Operates and maintains diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools necessary to repair vehicles.
- Performs routine maintenance on buses such as fueling, checking, and changing oil, and changing tires.
- Perform related work as required.
