Part-Time and Temporary; 29 Hours/Week - Flexible
General Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of the Department of Student Wellness, the position is responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to the school nurse in the daily operation of the clinic. Medical support to the nurse will be expected upon successful completion of proper training.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
- Experience as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), with certification in good standing, is preferred.
- CPR and First Aid Certification is preferred.
- Physical requirements – this position requires standing, lifting, walking up and down corridors, walking up and down stairs, hearing, seeing, balancing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, grasping, bending, pushing, reaching, the ability to perform CPR (if certified), and the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Exposure to blood borne pathogens is a possibility and proper PPE will be provided.

Essential Job Functions

- Follow the school nurse's instructions and procedures to assist in the daily operation of the clinic.
- Document any care provided in the district’s electronic database and per protocol.
- Administer care to students as directed, contact parents as appropriate.
- Provide minor care and first aid as authorized by the school nurse.
- Assist with medication administration with the completion of proper training and when directed by the school nurse.
- Answer clinic phone calls; report any needs/requests/issues to the nurse.
- Assist the school nurse with the maintenance of records and reports (e.g., immunizations, physicals, emergency forms and daily or monthly reports).
- Assist with medically involved or medically fragile students with the completion of proper training as directed by the school nurse.
- Assist with screening programs.
- Keep the school nurse informed concerning student’s conditions and needs, and pertinent conversations with parents and/or staff.
- Perform related work as required.
- Complete work in the time specified.
- Help maintain and support the school clinic.
- Provide assistance in other schools as directed by the Leadership Team when needed
